Kauri team Spellathon Lists:

Remember there are prizes for the children who raise the most, the class who raises the most and the children who score highly.

Kauri team Homework Expectations:

Reading

  • Students will read for at least 15 minutes every night, filling in their Racy Reader chart to earn rewards.
  • This reading is for pleasure and mileage. Reading of texts they enjoy, which may be comics, instruction manuals, novels and magazines as long as they are reading. This includes their researching for class work too!!!

Maths

  • Students will have pages from their Maths homework book that they will need to complete each week.
  • All students need to continue to practise their basic facts so that the recall is instant. Basic Facts sheets will be available for home use for you to use with your child as you wish.

Spelling

  • Students need to learn their set spelling words. They may learn these by: using www.spellingcity.com (online), Read Write Say, writing sentences, writing the words out 10 times or some other such method. These will be recorded in in their spelling folder in Notability.
  • Activities will be recorded under their spelling list to be completed on the same document as their words for the week.
  • These will be tested every Friday. Any errors will be re-learnt the following week.

Class Work

  • Students will sometimes need to bring home unfinished class work or reading tasks that have not been completed during the set class time.
  • Students should know what they need to do for these tasks and work to complete as much as they can in the set homework time.

All students must hand in their homework on the due date. Incomplete homework needs to have a written note and if possible, still needs to be completed. If it becomes habitual that the homework is not done and no reasons are given, the student will spend some of their lunchtimes doing the set work.

Homework is to be uploaded into their folder in the classroom dropbox where it will be checked by the teacher.

Basic Facts:

Children can log onto http://www.prototec.co.nz/maths.html and practice their basic facts at stage 4, 5, and 6.
